Silk was born in Fredericton New Brunswick Canada. Ilkay is the daughter of Peter, an educator and an accomplished actress and playwright. Peter was educated at St. Thomas University. Anna has some early memories of watching and going to play rehearsals. Silk created a variety of commercials while she was a child. She graduated with a Bachelor's in Arts at St. Thomas University in 1997. Theatre St. Thomas produced two of its first productions: Seven Menus, and The Kitchen. Silk relocated from Toronto on November 29, 1999 to Los Angeles during the next decade. Seth Cooperman is her future partner, whom she met during her time in Los Angeles at an Actors Workshop in 2007. Following their engagement in 2008, they married in 2009. When she converted to Judaism and they renewed their wedding vows during the Jewish ceremony on the 10th of April 2011.
